Whether you are just keen to try a portrait, or are eager to take on  the challenge of fabrics and fashion accessories, we look forward to seeing you.  We will of course, just have the two hours to do our creative best so please make sure you arrive ready for a prompt start at 7pm.

This session should be lots of fun.  It might be helpful to bring a standing easel for a more comfortable painting view as tables can take up a lot of room.

Sarah Pondevie Workshop
Anatomy of Rocks
26th  June 2026

This workshop will explore transparent water, reflections and river rocks. It will take place in the spacious gallery of Terrace Greenhouse in Fremantle during the exhibition Wet and Dry by Sarah Pondevie and Andy Dolphin where you will be able to view Sarah’s pastel paintings while you work. Sarah will demonstrate on an iPad using Procreate how to break down reference imagery into simplified value masses and major shapes. This approach trains the eye to prioritise structure over detail - helping you avoid becoming overwhelmed by complexity. You will then apply these principles in pastel, learning how to create convincing transparent water through an understanding of value relationships and colour temperature shifts. Emphasis will be placed on building depth and translucency.

Bookings are now open for PSWA members to attend these workshops. The cost is $125 per workshop.

To secure your place, please email secretary.pswa@gmail.com and indicate which workshop you would like to attend, or if you would like to register for both.

Sarah Pondevie Workshop
Glowing sand dunes
27th June 2026

This workshop will explore the nuances of light and shadow in dunes and grasses. It will take place in the spacious gallery of Terrace Greenhouse in Fremantle during the exhibition Wet and Dry by Sarah Pondevie and Andy Dolphin where you will be able to view Sarah’s pastel paintings while you work. Using Procreate on an iPad, Sarah will demonstrate how photographic references often appear flattened and darkened by the camera. She will show you how to identify the dominant shapes and value structure before beginning, helping you avoid becoming distracted by detail and instead build a painting with clarity and intent. You will learn Sarah’s approach to creating subtle shadows in sand through an understanding of colour relationships, composition, and the interplay of positive and negative space—capturing the quiet shifts of light that define the landscape to make a painting that glows.
