The pastel society was formed in 1983, the first such society to be formed in Australia. The members range across all levels of expertise, from beginners to some of the state’s most highly-regarded professional painters.
The Pastel Society of Western Australia was formed to cater to the needs of pastel artists of all levels, and to promote the pastel medium to the public at large. We achieve these aims by celebrating the work of our members, meeting weekly to paint together and share knowledge, and through workshops, demonstrations, newsletters, and our Annual Exhibition
We welcome visitors and prospective members to our weekly painting meetings.
The main event is the Annual Exhibition and artwork sale. Members are encouraged and supported to exhibit their work for sale. The exhibition is an important opportunity to celebrate the work of the society and its members, and to promote the pastel medium to the public, through the artwork displayed and painting demonstrations. Members can meet on a weekly, to less regular basis to paint together, a feature which has contributed to the long-standing success of the society. Here, members can seek advice and support from established artist members. Visitors are very welcome at any of our weekly painting sessions:
